Attentional Focus and Grip Width Influences on Bench Press Resistance Training.

This study evaluated the influence of different attentional foci for varied grip widths in the bench press. Eighteen resistance-trained men were familiarized with the procedure and performed a one-repetition maximum (1RM) test during Session 1. Biomechanical analysis of different starting strategies utilized during cross-country skiing starts

The present study was designed to analyse and compare the kinetics and kinematics associated with three different starting strategies during classic cross-country ski racing. Inside a ski tunnel, 12 elite male skiers performed three sets of three 38 m starts. Each set included one start using: double poling only (DP), diagonal stride only (DIA) and freely chosen (FREE) (i.e. where subjects used the strategy or combination of strategies they felt was fastest) in random order. Large atomic disorder in nanostructured LaNi5 alloys: A la L3-edge extended X-ray absorption fine structure study

Abstract Local structure of the nanostructured LaNi 5 alloys, prepared by ball-milling, has been studied using La L 3 -edge extended X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy. The near-neighbor distances tend to decrease with the ball-milling, and the mean square relative displacements (MSRD) show substantial increase suggesting an increased atomic disorder. High temperature annealing helps in partial recovery of atomic order in the ball-milled samples for milling times upto 20 h, however, the long-time ball-milled samples seems to gain only a local random order. Effect of cycling cadence on subsequent 3 km running performance in well trained triathletes * Commentary

Objectives: To investigate the effect of three cycling cadences on a subsequent 3000 m track running performance in well trained triathletes. Methods: Nine triathletes completed a maximal cycling test, three cycle-run succession sessions (20 minutes of cycling + a 3000 m run) in random order, and one isolated run (3000 m). During the cycling bout of the cycle-run sessions, subjects had to maintain for 20 minutes one of the three cycling cadences corresponding to 60, 80, and 100 rpm.
